The local arm of the global bearing and rotating technology and engineering specialist SKF has been appointed an OEM supplier by Henred Fruehauf. Henred Fruehauf is a specialist manufacturer and supplier of trailers.

SKF appointed Henred Fruehauf OEM supplierAcquired by SA Truck Bodies in 2002, Henred Fruehauf has been serving the local market for over six decades. The company’s trailers are recognised for their rugged reliability and Henred Fruehauf has established a reputation for delivering quality and world class quality products.

In trying to minimise trailer downtime for the large commercial truck fleets within its client base, Henred Fruehauf decided to replace its existing wheel product supplier. SKF South Africa was appointed on the basis of the quality of its products as well as its local product support.

“SKF’s capabilities to offer value-added service ensured our OEM supplier status,” says SKF Key Accounts Manager – Commercial Vehicles, Ettienne Schoeman. “In addition to being able to supply a full wheel solution, including bearings, hub seals and hub caps, we also offered an audit on Henred Fruehauf’s production line to ensure that all standards were met. Our comprehensive value proposition resulted in Henred Fruehauf placing a first order for 10 000 HM518445/10 SKF bearings.”

Schoeman adds that the solid business relationship between SKF and Henred Fruehauf was further strengthened with the appointment of Henred Fruehauf as an SKF distributor in nine other African. “The appointment was a natural progression and makes sound business sense for both companies, which share numerous synergies when it comes to quality product and service delivery.”

Training and mapping is currently in progress at all of Henred Fruehauf’s depots. According Schoeman, the appointment of SKF as an OEM supplier has opened new doors for the company in the commercial sector. “This appointment demonstrates SKF’s focus on range expansion as well as our capabilities to offer custom value-adding solutions to OEM distributors and end-users,” he concludes.
