Electricity + Control

To cater to the growing requirements of its customers, VEGA has enhanced the VEGABAR pressure transmitter family. It has simplified the product range by enhancing the underlying technology, enabling it to be structured more clearly, besides adding new capabilities. The company has achieved a breakthrough in the area of ceramic measuring cells by way of eliminating moisture sensitivity and temperature shock susceptibility.

Customer across industries are often on the look-out for a simple and faster route to get the sensor selection right. In a bid to help such customers, VEGA, a full-range pressure instrumentation supplier, has completely renewed its pressure transmitter portfolio. Developed in accordance with SIL standards, the state-of-the-art VEGABAR 80 family surpasses most, if not all sensors currently found on the market, in terms of several features. Also, the already condensed instrument line is being slimmed down even further. With drastic improvements and changes, the models have been brought down from five to three.

The Power of Three

With the 80 series, now there are only three process pressure transmitters that cover many applications. The multi-purpose VEGABAR 82 with ceramic measuring cell can met 60-70% of all applications; the VEGABAR 83 with its metallic measuring cell is ideal for high pressure applications. Last but not least, the VEGABAR 81, with a broad range of chemical seal options, can be deployed whenever high temperature and chemical resistance are required.

The instruments of the VEGABAR 80 family consistently follow VEGA’s plics concept, which has already been a success story for many years. This standardised instrument platform offers a universal housing, electronics, and adjustment concept for all measurement methods. Whether it is for pressure or level, it facilitates customers’ day-to-day work throughout the entire lifecycle of an instrument – from selection and ordering, to installation and set-up, right through to maintenance and servicing.

For additional convenience, there are new ‘family DTMs’, which have been implemented with new VEGAFLEX guided wave radar sensors. Previously, a special driver was required for each and every instrument to integrate it into a measuring system. Now, only one Device Type Manager (DTM) is required for the entire instrument family and it will automatically recognise to which VEGABAR 80 it is connected.
