Modern Quarrying

Aspasa has been conducting workshops on employment equity together with the requirements for the Mining Charter. It believes that one of the issues that needs addressing is that of women in mining, and as such, is holding a workshop on 8 February 2018.

Former Carte Blanche presenter Ruda Landman is the closing guest speaker and panellist. She will be talking about women in business.

Other presenters include:

Advocate Hanlie van Vuuren, Solidarity: Sexual discrimination / harassment in the workplace.

Coleen Cluett, Consultant: Workplace and home demands on women. Issues for consideration, ie flexi-hours, adequate sanitary facilities, childcare, mentoring, etc.

• Letisha van der Berg, Afrimat: Working your way up in a male-dominated industry. Examples of discrimination.

Debbie Ntombela, Shepstone & Wylie: Working in the legal field – does the system cater for women (TBC).

Trudie Oates, Occusure: Incapacity management / linked to return to work highlighting the benefits thereof.

Nelmarie Potter, Predictive Safety: Fatigue management (TBC).

The workshop will be held at the Silverbirch Lifestyle Centre in Randpark Ridge. The cost is R1 900 (ex VAT) per delegate, which includes refreshments.
