Li Fi set to take on communication world1Wi-Fi, the wireless transmission of internet connectivity, could be replaced by Li-Fi (light-fidelity) in the near future. This comes after the US-based Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) recently certified the Li-Fi standard 801.11bb-2023.

Rather than using radio waves to transmit data, Li-fi makes use of near-infrared or near-ultraviolet LED spectrums for connectivity. Li-Fi allows for faster connectivity as light travels faster than almost anything known to man. It is also not subjected to interference from electromagnetic sources, and newer security protocols make it more difficult to hack into a system.
